Megaman X- X8 Title Screen

I thought I'd finally get around to posting this, even though it isn't 'officially' done yet. This thing took me hours! A copy, NOT a trace, of X from the Megaman X8 title screen. The lineart was the hardest I've done so far, and the shading... gyaaah. But I had to do it. I've always honestly adored that image of X- it really catches the gentle nature of the character. I've also always loved the lighting; it comes from front, back, and above, creating some really neat highlights all around. This is the 'tidy' version of the picture, with no background and no x-flare on the helmet. Later on I'm going to add both the flare and the background, but for now we get to see just a little bit of cool glow.

This entire image was done in MS Paint. The lineart was done with two tools- straight line and erase. Even the single-pixel touch-ups were done with the finest setting of the line tool. The majority of the shading was also done with fine straight lines, especially in the crystal and surrounding glow, with generous use of the fill tool involved as well. The earpiece took some fiddling with the pencil tool, and the eye shine was done with the pen, but aside from these tiny fixes it's straight-line and fill all the way. And erasing. Lots and lots of erasing.

This one, and the 'finished' version later, will both go out to Ray, who plays X in the Rebuilding roleplay on Gaia. X is honestly glad that there's a time of peace right now. He doesn't mind running errands or spending time teaching his best friend's new sister instead of fighting. So of course a certain mercenary had to show up out of nowhere and mess things up. And it doesn't help that everyone is after that sister. Poor X, it looks like the fighting is starting up again after all...
